We’ve always loved getting involved in local Basingstoke events, and 2021 is shaping to be one of our most involved years yet. We announced last month that we would be taking part in the Hampshire Hogs trail and our hog is now in situ, but that’s only the start for our engagement with local community events in 2021.
Here’s everything else that we’ve got planned so far for this year. Get your calendars at the ready, we’re about to fill them for you!
Sunrise Walk
Sunday 26th September 2021
First up – we’re the proud sponsor and host of St Michael’s Hospice’s new Sunrise Walk event. It’s a beautiful way to spend a morning, starting at Worting House at 6:30am before a five-mile circular trail through Hampshire countryside. Throughout the walk, you’ll get some wonderful views of the sun rising over stunning scenery and even the chance of spotting some early-morning wildlife. The trail ends at Worting House again, where you’ll be greeted with hot drinks, bacon rolls, and other refreshments. And did we mention you can bring your dog?
The Sunrise Walk is two things in one: a great excuse to set your alarms early to get out into the countryside and a fabulous way to support what is a very worthy charitable cause. Tickets start from £15 for adults and £8 for children, with proceeds going directly to St Michael’s Hospice charity. You can learn more about the Sunrise Walk and buy tickets on the St Michael’s Hospice website. We hope to see you there!
Basingstoke Variety Show
Saturday 2nd October 2021
Next up, another sponsorship. The Basingstoke Variety Show, held in aid of the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, is returning in 2021 after having been cancelled last year and we’re one of the sponsors. It’s a showcase of the best talent from across the borough, with acts spanning music, dance, and drama. Money raised from the event will be distributed between the Mayor’s two chosen charities – The Community Furniture Project and the Friends of St Michael’s Hospice charity, both supporting very good causes.
The Basingstoke Variety Show will be held at The Anvil, with tickets starting from £13. It’s bound to be a wonderful night full of local talent, and we’ll be attending ourselves, too. If you’re looking for an exciting event to attend – this is the one for you. You can find out more about the variety show and book your tickets on the Anvil Arts website.
Basingstoke Business Expo
Thursday 21st October 2021
And finally on the events side of things, we’ll be making an appearance at the Basingstoke Business Expo. Held at the lovely Oakley Hall Hotel, the Basingstoke Business Expo is a great opportunity to join hundreds of local businesses in one space, meet with exhibitors, and build your network. We’ll be there with a Worting House stand (so come and say hello!), showcasing our space along with up to 250 other Basingstoke businesses.
Along with exhibitors, there’s also a mid-day seminar to absorb from a mystery guest speaker. Tickets are completely free and there’s plenty of free car parking spaces available on-site for the day. You can see a list of the exhibitors and register for your free tickets here. We hope you can make it.
Worting House x Aspects of Fitness
Not so much an event, but still unmissable, we’re also excited to announce we’ve partnered with our neighbours at Aspects of Fitness gym who are offering a great introductory deal for all Worting House members. You can claim a free introductory package including three free sessions within seven days and a personalised fitness programme. Then, if you enjoy your introduction, you can start a full membership for just £25 a month – an exclusive rate just for Worting House members.

The gym has a range of equipment, from treadmills to free weights, and showers, lockers, and a sauna available for use by members. Hampshire Hogs
August-October 2021
And finally, if you missed our last blog post, we’re also involved in The Hampshire Hogs art trail as the hosts of a unique hand-painted hog. It was installed on our grounds in early August and will remain there till mid-October, so there’s still plenty of time to come and check it out. It’s one of 17 hogs placed around Basingstoke as part of a special trail inspired by Hampshire’s people, places, and heritage. You can download the app to discover the trail and follow @HantsHogs on Instagram to take a look at some of the designs.
